Math is More Fun When it is About Football!
I remember when I was little and learning math, I always thought when would I use this?! (like every kid does) I so vividly remember when my 7th grade teacher taught us math in the context of football. Each week our math problems were based on statistics from that weekend’s games. Even though I wasn’t a huge football fan at the time, it was so fun and it made me understand the math concepts on a much deeper level!
As a teacher, I strived to connect math to real life concepts as often as possible. I absolutely love brainstorming ways to do this that will interest my specific students each year! Every year though, football is always a huge engagement hook!
These free math activities are perfect for 1st grade, 2nd grade, or 3rd grade. There are so many options to differentiate based on your students levels and abilities!
