Meals For You and Your Baby!
At Peanut’s 6 month doctors appointment, the doctor asked us about giving him food. We had been doing purees for about a month and were all excited to tell her that! She then said we need to start finger food (which we knew was coming). However, she said that Peanut can have mini versions of what we are having.. this made me panic! WHATT how can he go from apple puree to a mini plate of shrimp and grits (one of our favorite meals)? My husband and I have two modes for dinners- either frozen chicken nuggets or very fresh, flavorful, healthy meals. I couldn’t understand how to give him parts of those meals. I am just now starting to do it at 9 months! I want to share what I am doing with you!
Below is what I do when I cook for the whole family. Click here to read what Peanut eats when we have pizza bagel bites 🙂
First of all everything we cook is either from Skinnytaste or Molly Yeh. I highly recommend everything they make. So I decided that during the cooking process I have been figuring out how to change the recipe a little to make it good for Peanut to eat (if I need to)!
I will keep adding to this list as I try new recipes!
Fish
- This Basil Parmesan Crusted Salmon is one of our favorite ways to eat salmon! On Peanut’s piece of salmon, I put just the lightest amount of the Parmesan spread and only on half so he could try it.
- Baked Garlic Lemon Tilapia– less sauce on Peanut’s fish
Pastas
- Baby Pasta Shells with Asparagus – Peanut ate this as is!
- Mushroom Kale Lasagna Rolls– Peanut ate as is!
Side Dishes
- Parmesan Green Beans– I make a corner of the sheet pan light on the parmesan for Peanut
- Macaroni Salad with Tomatoes and Zucchini
Salads
- Penne Arugula Salad with Sun Dried Tomatoes– Peanut had chick peas, penne, some pieces of arugula
Chicken
- Chicken Milanese with Arugula– Peanut had the chicken, tried a little of the salad and had green beans. His piece was lightly breaded
Ground Meat
- Picadillo *didn’t give Peanut any olives – we use the left over meat for empanadas
- Avocado Corn Black Bean Salad *left out red onions, didn’t salt or pepper Peanut’s!
